Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival FAQs

When is the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival?

The Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival is held annually in November. Visit our home page for this year's event date and opening hours.

Where is the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival held?

The Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival takes place across a selection of beautiful private gardens in and around Cambridge, Waikato. Your ticket includes a map and details of each garden location.

How many gardens are included?

Each year, the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival features a carefully selected collection of stunning gardens, ranging from established country gardens to modern landscapes and hidden gems. The number of gardens may vary each year. Visit our garden page for this years gardens.

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online through our website from Tuesday, 4th August or from Amber Garden Centre, 7 Peake Road, Cambridge. We recommend purchasing early, as tickets may sell out.

Can I buy tickets on the day?

If tickets are still available, they may be purchased on the day. However, we encourage buying in advance to avoid disappointment.

What does my ticket include?

Your ticket gives you access to all participating gardens on the day or days covered by your ticket. It also includes a festival programme with a map, garden locations and garden information to help you make the most of your day.

Where do the proceeds go?

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, proceeds from ticket sales are donated to local charities and community organisations, helping make a positive difference throughout Cambridge.

Which charities does the festival support?

This year's beneficiaries are Interlock Trust, Cambridge Lifeskills, Cambridge Community House, and Achievement House.

Can I visit the gardens in any order?

Your Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival experience begins at the starting garden printed on your ticket, where you'll collect your festival programme. After visiting your starting garden, you're free to explore the remaining gardens in any order and at your own pace throughout the day.

How long does it take to visit all the gardens?

Most visitors allow a full day to enjoy the festival. The gardens are open from 9.00am to 4.30pm, giving you plenty of time to explore at your own pace. Spend as much or as little time as you like in each garden and enjoy everything the festival has to offer.

Are the gardens suitable for children?

Unfortunately, children under the age of 16 are not permitted to attend the festival due to event requirements and the nature of the private gardens.

Are dogs allowed?

No. Pets are not permitted in the gardens, with the exception of registered assistance dogs.

Are the gardens wheelchair accessible?

Accessibility varies between gardens, as they are privately owned and each property is different. Information about accessibility is provided where available, and some gardens may have uneven paths, steps, or sloping ground.

What happens if it rains?

The festival goes ahead rain or shine. We recommend bringing a rain jacket or umbrella if wet weather is forecast and wearing suitable footwear.

Is there food and coffee available?

Yes. A selection of cafés, eateries, and food options are available throughout Cambridge, and many visitors enjoy making a day or weekend of their visit. Some garden locations may also offer refreshments.

Can I take photographs?

Yes, photography for personal use is welcome. We ask that visitors respect the privacy of garden owners and other guests.

Can I purchase plants or artwork?

Some gardens may have plants, garden products, or artwork available for purchase. You'll also be able to visit the Passion for Art trail featuring talented local artists.

Is parking available?

Parking is available near each garden where possible. Please follow parking signs and any directions from festival volunteers, and be considerate of local residents.

Can I leave and re-enter gardens?

Yes. Your ticket is valid for the day or days you have purchased. Whether you have a Saturday ticket, Sunday ticket, or a Weekend ticket, you're welcome to come and go throughout the day and revisit participating gardens during the valid period of your ticket.

Why should I visit the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival?

The Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival is more than a garden tour. It's an opportunity to explore beautiful private gardens, discover local artists, support Cambridge businesses, and help raise funds for charities that make a real difference in our community.
