Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival Charities
Through the generosity of our sponsors, the bulk of the costs of the
Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival have been covered.
This means that the money that you spend to purchase your tickets is donated to our chosen charities.
This year - the funds raised will go to Rotary Cambridge Charitable Trust as in 2021 - with a specific identified beneficiary being Lifeskills - a unique Cambridge charity.
Rotary Cambridge runs a number of fund-raising events during the year with the proceeds being
donated to various charities. Some of these events are run as joint ventures with the charitable
organisation with a substantial proportion of the funds donated to that organisation (Charity Dinner, Race to Raise Funds).
The proceeds of the other events are distributed through the annual grants round of the Rotary Cambridge Charitable Trust. Some of the charities that have received donations in the last five years are: St John, Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Cambridge Health & Community Centre, Achievement House, Mana Hapori Charitable Trust, Cambridge Community House, Cambridge Tree Trust, Maungatautari Eco Island Trust, Home of Cycling Charitable Trust, Cambridge Young Mariners, Cambridge Gymnastics.
The proceeds from the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival will be allocated during the 2022 - 2023
grant round. We have profiled below a unique Cambridge charity that has received grants in the
past and will receive funds from the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival:
Cambridge Lifeskills is a Not-for- profit agency offering counselling for children and young people between the ages of five to 15 in the Cambridge district. Changes in society have meant many children are now exposed to an increasing range of issues, including bullying, abuse, and family issues. Children often do not have the skills to deal with these issues. Cambridge Lifeskills aims to offer counselling, support and encouragement available through schools, so that children/young people are able to work through these issues.
Rotary Club of Cambridge
The Rotary Club of Cambridge is part of Rotary International, an international service organisation.
The purpose of the club is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill
and peace around the world.
The members of the Rotary Club of Cambridge work together to provide in person support, and also to raise funds to support these purposes, including the annual Bookarama, Charity Dinner and from 2018, the Taste Waikato cookbook and the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival.
The club meets regularly on Thursdays from 5.30pm at Cambridge High School, Staff Room.
