'Passion for Art'
Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival is again delighted to promote “Passion for Art” on 9 and 10 November. This event celebrates passionate Cambridge art-orientated establishments and artists.
Spend a weekend in Cambridge enjoying what’s on offer at both the Garden Festival and the art event. You can indulge yourself in the free self-guided tour of artists' workplaces and art-orientated businesses. There are 13 studios or establishments that provide an opportunity to explore the vibrant art scene in Cambridge.
Here’s a snippet of seven studios/establishments on show (the remaining six will be featured in a later newsletter):
Artist Kirsten McIntosh looks for a challenge and finds such opportunities in reflections, in clouds, with flowers, roadside grasses, and a late afternoon sun
Cambridge Museum display “This is Cambridge” explores the role art has played in presenting the town’s identity featuring professional and amateur artists from the Cambridge Museum collection. “This is Cambridge” can be seen at Arnold House, Te Awa Lifecare
Catherine Howarth is a well-known pastel artist who creates delightful images of horses, dogs and cats. Her fine artworks are in homes both in NZ and overseas.
Cambridge Society of Arts offers members a place to paint, has regular exhibitions for the sale of art, and holds workshops in different mediums to inspire those attending. The art for this event will show varied works including those in pastel, oil, acrylic, and watercolour
Carole Hughes is a self-taught Cambridge artist who has a passion for colour and Fauve art. The use of colours, bold thick strokes, and an almost naïve way of putting paint on canvas is a magical blend
Jo Beckett is a potter who is inspired by flowers, birds, and the bush to create her current range of garden art, domestic ware, and art for the home
Lea Woutersen paints in oil and acrylic, does encaustic and gourd art, and also makes sculptures
